DTS information YWAM USA, TexasThe Discipleship Training School, or "DTS" is a missions experience to send you and the message of Jesus Christ around the world--through creative arts, innovative multi-media, passionate music, loving missions service and many other ways. This is not just some job, some vacation or some "phase" of life. This is our mission--Youth With A Mission.

Training
The DTS (Discipleship Training School) training phase includes teaching on: Intercessory Prayer, the Nature and Character of God, the Father Heart of God and other vital subjects. Worship, personal devotions, interactive group and one-on-one discipleship are important parts of this ideal environment for spiritual growth.

DTS missions outreach
DTS Outreach
DTS teams from here go on missionary outreaches all over the world. Teams have served in Asia, Central, North and South America--and we plan to send a team to the Pacific Islands with our upcoming DTS. The "DTSers" are missionaries in training--doing mercy ministry, evangelism and teaching on outreach. This can involve multi-media, performing arts, acts of service, preaching, music or other methods of reaching people with the love of Jesus. Outreach is an opportunity for us to live out our faith and the teachings we receive during our missions training.

Our motto: "To know God and make Him known" describes what takes place in the YWAM DTS program. Spend 12 weeks getting to know God and His plan for your life. Then spend 12 weeks on outreach, sharing new found understanding with others.

The Internet of Missions
The DTS is designed to jump start your life in global missions. It is a gateway program to Youth With A Mission (YWAM) -- a global missions network with 13,000 full-time missionaries and 300,000 short-term missionaries each year. DTS is also the first step (24 credits) toward a University of the Nations (U. of N.) degree. The U. of N. is YWAM's global university in over 150 nations. Whether in missions or in the business sector, the character and skills you aquire on DTS will serve you for the rest of your life.

For example, a young person can do a DTS at Woodcrest (or other YWAM campuses) and go on to immediate missions work in Asia, Europe, Africa or the Americas--doing evangelism, training or mercy ministry. The same person could also take further U. of N. courses, attain a degree and learn by doing:

  • music in missions
  • digital film making
  • performing arts
  • digital communication
  • biblical teaching
  • community development
  • youth ministry
  • counseling
  • medical/relief outreach
  • intercessory prayer
  • worship
  • or many other missions roles.

YWAM and the U. of N. are like an internet of missions throughout the world.
DTS is your connection.

DTS - Overview
The DTS program includes: worship, prayer, Bible study/teaching, communications projects, outreaches and travel. Rather than learning with "talking heads," YWAM DTS's have interactive live/learn environments with experienced missionary teachers and staff. DTS's here have featured international speakers like: Loren Cunningham (founder of YWAM), Winkie Pratney, Dean Sherman and others. Each of the 12 training weeks focus on different aspects of God's character and christian living. Your DTS team will then go on outreach. On outreach you will have an opportunity to live out what you've learned through: media productions, performing arts, street outreach, mercy ministry, teaching, prayer and worship.
